Hiking tips to keep in mind:

• Always hike with a buddy
• If possible, wear sturdy hiking boots, regular tennis shoes will get beaten up quickly and offer little or no ankle support
• The Lava here is called a'a for a reason! It's sharp and will hurt your feet if you walk barefoot.
• Carry plenty of water with you
• Wear a good sunhat
• Wear sunscreen and bring some along for re-application
• Wear bugspray for any jungle or in-land hiking
• Bring your CAMERA! There will always be something of which you'll want photos!
